Jo – owner
I’m now resident in Keswick, the heart of the stunning Lake District National Park, after many years travelling from Suffolk, Manchester and Sheffield to enjoy the fells. I love running, walking, swimming, star gazing, sitting and drinking coffee or reading in the fells and have tried to embrace living in the heart of the Lakes as much as possible. Having suffered with anxiety over the last few months, I decided a change was in order and as the outdoors has been a real lifesaver for me, this is it! I’m excited to be making use of my experience and doing what I love, even if it is only limited to start with.
JAG Outdoors has been on the cards for a while, but when I qualified as a Gym Instructor last year (and turned 40!) I decided to get on with giving it a go, adding in fitness classes and eventually personal training and exercise on referral I hope. I’m a huge advocate of the power of exercise and/or being outdoors for our health and well being and want to share that. I hope to empower people to have the confidence to head out and about whether that’s being able to keep mobile and wandering in town or training to run up the nearest fell.
I’m an experienced outdoor leader and personal trainer, working with the cadet forces and other organisations for many years before moving to Cumbria. I love tailoring and adapting activities to meet the needs of the specific group, and am particularly focused on giving people the skills to start their journey into the outdoors or fitness. I want to give people an experience they will remember for the right reasons, even if that means changing the plans at short notice.
I’m a qualified teacher, hold a Summer Mountain Leader, Climbing Wall Award, Leader in Running Fitness, Gym Instructor Level 2, Personal Trainer Level 3, Outdoor First Aid and have completed many other coaching and training courses.
Tan is my partner in crime – a community physio by trade with a passion for supporting our older population and those with short or long term limited mobility. She will support some of the exercise classes, with adapted Tai Chi and functional assessments, and be assisting on our outdoor courses. She is a trainee Mountain Leader, Leader in Running Fitness, loves an ultra distance run and is an all round hardy Yorkshire lass!
Jasper, our (super cute) Cocker Spaniel, joins us on many adventures. He was hatching in 2019, joining our family in November. He is a gentle, ball obsessed and fun loving boy who is keen to welcome other dogs along to lots of our activities. He has a beautiful singing voice and will often be found hanging out around Keswick with his various dog and human friends. However if dogs are not your thing he knows he has to stay at home so do let us know!
